If you want to know your location on Google Maps, there are several ways to do so. Among them are the ability to see your current location by place, the ability to view your location history, and the ability to add a pin to your location. However, it’s also possible to change your location.
Find your current location on Google Maps
Google Maps has a feature that allows you to find your location on the map. All you need is an active internet connection to use this feature. The faster your internet connection, the more accurate Google Maps will be. However, there are a few steps you can take to ensure that Google Maps is showing you your correct location.
Open Google Maps and open the Locations tab. Select the “Your Location” button at the bottom right of the map. In the map, locate the blue dot with a blue cone in front of it. You want to see the blue dot pointing toward the direction you’re traveling. To do this, tap and hold the blue dot. A small compass icon will appear next to the blue dot. After this, move your phone in a figure-eight pattern, if you are unsure of the direction you’re facing, until the compass’ accuracy increases. Once the compass reaches a high level of accuracy, tap Done.
View your location history by place
If you’ve used Google Maps, you’ve probably noticed the location history feature. The location history shows the last place you were and when you were there, with timestamps. It uses the GPS on your phone or tablet, as well as the Wi-Fi or mobile network to determine where you’ve been.
The feature is available on any web browser, and you can enable or disable it as you prefer. Go to Google Maps and sign in with your Google account. Select ‘Your data on maps’ from the menu at the top of the screen.
Edit your location

Add a pin to the map
